BCD Vogt Memorial Scholarship & Application-Form
In 1974, Steve Vogt began his service as a member of the Bitterroot Conservation District Board of Supervisors, a role he would faithfully hold until his passing in 2015. Steve cared deeply about the land and water of the Bitterroot Valley, and he understood that water is the lifeblood of both agriculture and the natural world. He devoted countless hours to protecting this precious resource, guided by his unwavering belief that water could be managed thoughtfully and fairly for the benefit of the entire community.
Steve’s love for conservation was matched only by his passion for education. He believed strongly in investing in the next generation and generously shared his time and knowledge with the valley’s youth. Through workshops, presentations, and field days, Steve inspired young people to understand, respect, and care for the land, instilling values that would last far beyond the classroom.
To honor Steve Vogt’s life and to carry forward his deep commitment to conservation and education, the Steve Vogt Memorial Scholarship was created. This scholarship supports students from Ravalli County who are pursuing college degrees in fields such as agriculture, agronomy, animal, range, or soil science, forestry, land resources, environmental science or engineering, hydrology, plant science, wildlife biology, and related disciplines.
Qualified local high school seniors are encouraged to apply. Through this scholarship, Steve’s legacy lives on, empowering young people to protect and steward the land and water he cared for so deeply.
The Bitterroot Conservation District (BCD) recognizes that the most valuable resource to our country is its youth as they will be our next generation of resource managers.
All applications must be submitted and received by 5:00 p.m. on April 21, 2026.
